About
Chan.nel Karama Ltd. is, since its conception in 2004, a one-woman operation. CEO/designer, LC Skinner, since her days as a student at University of California, Berkeley, has engulfed herself in all things creative. This multi-faceted artist is considered to be a renaissance woman, a title attributable to the various career fields such as fashion journalism, wardrobe styling, production, apparel and graphic design that she holds titles in. She has created two lines of clothing, Chan.nel Karama Limited and Karama Denim Luxe Brands. Her clothing is a hybrid of couture and street fashions, intermingling the flair of vintage clothing and the individualism of Hip Hop culture. Being from the diverse city of San Francisco, she saw that this genre of fashion was left vacant in her cities eclectic fashion scene.Skinner explains, “Being myself is a must! ..and I don’t feel the same way every day. So my personal style is sporadic and almost a bit schizophrenic. Some days I want jeans and a t-shirt, then the next day I want something a bit more formal. I just make sure everybody can relate to at least one piece in each collection”. Chan.nel Karama Limited and Karama Denim Luxe are lines of quality, on trend clothing for women of a myriad of sizes spanning from size 0-24 and has items as low as $10 yet, no item is more than $500. Her items have been featured in multiple media outlets such as the 2006 BET Awards, Uptown Style Weekly, Yo! TV, in various magazines and on the runways in San Francisco (San Francisco Fashion Week 2011), Los Angeles, Atlanta and more recently New York City for Full Figured Fashion Week 2010. With the New York showing, CKL has received press in Vogue Italia's VogueCurvy, Rueters.com, and countless blogs and online magazines such as The Curvy Fashionista, Manik and Skorch magazines. In 2010, Skinner was nominated by the SAN FRANCISCO FASHION AND MERCHANTS ALLIANCE, INC in their third annual Stellar Awards, which celebrate the accomplishments of the BEST GROUND BREAKERS in the San Francisco fashion industry, under the category of best emerging designer.F/W 2011This Fall Winter, Channel Karama Ltd is taking a trip back to the days of funky frocks and playful prints. that's brightening up catwalks and the walkways of metropolis alike.
